How did you get into boating?
My first experience of sailing at the age of 9 was eventful to say the least. Thunder, lightning, a hail storm and the dinghy having tipped me out into the freezing summer waters of a reservoir… it was far from how I had pictured my first time sailing.Despite all this, I was hooked! As my sailing progressed so did my passion for the sport. At the age of 12 I read Ellen MacArthur’s book and from that moment on I have dreamt of following in her footsteps.
Tell us about your boating achievements
In 2020, I embarked on a challenge beyond anything I had ever done, to sail solo around Britain at 15. When I completed the trip that October, all I wanted to do was keep going! In 2021, I was keen to begin working my way up in the racing world. I began my season competing in the UK Double Handed Offshore Series on the J88 “Tigris” youth program. From there, I spent the rest of the year inshore and offshore racing as much as possible, with the highlight of coming 3rd in IRC2 at Cowes Week.
What have you been up to recently?
Through 2022 and beyond I want to learn as much as possible in the solo/double-handed racing scene, particularly with the Figaro class. It is my ambition to have a career in professional offshore sailing.
