Introducing Alex Mengham

Our boatgen ambassadors are passionate young people keen to inspire the next generation of young boaters to experience the freedom, challenges and amazing benefits that come with being on the water.  Learn more about Alex Mengham, one of our recently appointed ambassadors.

Age: 16

Current occupation: Secondary School Student  

How did you get into boating? 
I started sailing in 2016 when I did my RYA stage 1 at the Portsmouth Watersports Centre (now the Andrew Simpson Centre Portsmouth).   

Tell us about your boating achievements:
Since starting sailing in 2016 I have completed all of my stages and 5 advanced modules, as well as completing my assistant instructor course, with hopes of doing my dinghy instructor course in February 2022.    

What have you been up to recently? 
I regularly participate at the sail and race clubs at Portsmouth for a couple of years as well as volunteering in the holidays.   

Why did you sign up to become a boatgen ambassador? 
I would like to be a boatgen ambassador so that I can share my passion for watersports with others and provide everyone with an equal opportunity to get out onto the water.
