A cruise in company to East Cowes Marina

A warm sunny weekend saw a group of berth holders, power and sail, take a leisurely stroll down the Hamble River before anchoring in the picturesque Osborne Bay, Isle of Wight. Some swam (some didn't!) & some picnicked, before heading in to East Cowes marina to enjoy the evening rays with sundowners over the River Medina - and a lot of the fabulous Fat Pappa's woodfired pizza (!) courtesy of Fiona & Dave.

Friday night started the weekend with some food and drinks at Alexanda's - there's always a beautiful view and some action on the river to watch.

Saturday morning dawned with hot rays as Mendez Marine led the cruise downriver aboard their lovely training vessel "Fenland Dancer", a princess 368. After drinking in the beauty of the Hamble River, some blasted across to Osborne bay (Care Free looking mighty fine up on the plane), while "SY Coyote" waited for the wind to fill for a fabulous sail at 8 knots with Vivienne at the helm.

We anchored in the beautiful Osborne Bay with Jon and Fin from "SY Bubbles" enjoying a swim before calling over the ice cream boat! Andy from Mendez Marine visited everyone aboard their support rib Kake. With picnics finished and the bunting flapping on "Honey Rush", we lifted anchor, molluscs were returned from anchors to the bay and we headed in to East Cowes Marina for the night.

Everyone enjoyed relaxing in the sunshine with a pimms or two. Martin from Mendez Marine took young Fin through some chart work, then we all strolled up to see Fiona & Dave who'd kindly agreed to bring their pizza oven to the marina, serving their home made wood fired pizzas - delicious - we definitely recomend you book them, and don't miss the hawaiian or hot 'n' spicy options! Thank you Fiona & Dave, you rounded our day off pefectly!
