Haslar
Haslar Marina started November in the most spectacular way possible with a royal visit from HRH Princess Anne.
Following a morning visit to the Gosport Community Hub, the Princess headed to Haslar Marina in order to recommission the Boleh Yacht, berthed in the marina. Providing a stunning backdrop for the event was Haslar Marina's new restaurant, The Creek due to officially open in December.
The event welcomed the nephews of the original designer, Navy Commander Robin Kilroy, alongside the people who have been working on the restoration, ongoing since 2008, as well as several children who have already been given the opportunity to get afloat on this unique vessel.
Alongside meeting people both involved in and impacted by the amazing work of the Boleh Trust the Princess received a tour of the Boleh Yacht, taking part in a traditional bottle ceremony where she poured cider over the bow of the ship to mark its recommissioning.
Ben Lippiett, General Manager had this to say:
“It was a great honour to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Anne to Haslar Marina, as well as showcasing our stunning new restaurant we were, above all else, proud to be supporting the incredible work of The Boleh Trust, one of our organisational partners who share our passion for getting as many people as possible out on the water. They are creating great opportunities for local children to get afloat which is something we’re always keen to get behind.”
