At Boatfolk, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional service and fostering a community of boat owners who value freedom and choice. Our commitment to open sites across our marinas underscores our belief in empowering boat owners to choose the professionals they trust to work on their vessels. In line with this commitment, we have updated our contractor policy, aimed at enhancing safety, transparency, and collaboration within our marina community.
Why the Change?
The decision to implement a new contractor registration process stems from our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency at our marinas. Whilst we have always welcomed third-party contractors, we recognise the need for a more structured approach to ensure clarity, transparency, and accountability in all operations conducted on our premises.
Key Features of the New Policy
Clarity and Transparency: By requiring contractors to register with us, we aim to gain a clear understanding of the companies operating within our marinas and the nature of the work they undertake. This enables us to better coordinate activities, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure a seamless experience for everyone.
Insurance Declaration: We prioritise the safety and security of our premises and all individuals and property within them. Therefore, we require all contractors to provide a declaration of their public liability insurance coverage, with a minimum threshold of £5,000,000. This ensures that adequate insurance is in place to mitigate risks and protect against unforeseen incidents.
Safety and Risk Assessment: Completing the registration process signifies a commitment to upholding safe work practices and conducting thorough risk assessments where applicable. We believe that prioritising safety is paramount in maintaining a conducive and secure environment for all stakeholders.
Our Commitment to Collaboration
At Boatfolk, we view contractors as valued partners in our mission to provide exceptional service to our customers. We are committed to working closely with them to streamline the registration process and address any concerns or challenges they may encounter along the way. Our goal is to foster a culture of collaboration and mutual respect, where all parties work together towards a common objective; the best possible experience for our customers.
Next Steps
We understand that change can sometimes be met with apprehension, but we assure you that these updates are designed with the best interests of our marina community in mind. As of 1st February 2024, we will be implementing the new contractor registration requirement at Portland and Weymouth Marinas. We encourage all contractors operating within our premises to familiarise themselves with the updated policy and commence the registration process at their earliest convenience.
The introduction of our new contractor policy reflects our unwavering commitment to safety, transparency, and collaboration within our marina community. We believe that by working together, we can create a safer, more efficient environment that enhances the overall experience for boat owners, visitors, and contractors alike. Should you have any questions or require further clarification regarding the new policy, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team.
Together, we can ensure that Boatfolk remains a beacon of excellence in the marine industry.
