This year's theme for Mental Health Awareness week is nature. Nature is a great healer, and there's nothing like the sea to soothe the soul. However, the stigma surrounding mental health makes it hard for some people to open up about their experiences.
We don't think mental health should be a taboo subject. In fact, quite the opposite. In support of mental health awareness week we're releasing our Folk Tales mini-series honest conversations.
We're speaking to members of the boatfolk community to shine a light on mental health. They'll be opening up about their own ups and downs, and we'll be sharing some positive steps to improving mental wellbeing.
Our podcasts will take you through the five steps to mental wellbeing: Give, be active, connect, take notice and keep learning.
Each day we will release one new episode (so stay tuned). You can look forward to hearing from guests including Alex Sergison from Adventure4All, open water swimmer Ben Hooper, Abbie Barnes from Spend More Time in the Wild, Tom and Matt of Frontline Coffee, and record breaking young sailor Timothy Long.
If you're struggling with your mental health please don't hesitate to reach out to someone, whether this be friends, family or a healthcare professional.
