Haslar
Blazing a trail for a more sustainable future, Haslar Marina have become the first ever marina to win The Yacht Harbour Association’s (TYHA’s) new Sustainable Marina award, sponsored by Haven Knox-Johnston.
This new Sustainability Award celebrates work by marinas to improve the marine environment and was one of eight categories awarded at The Southampton International Boat Show on Wednesday 21st September.
Other categories included Inland Marina of the year, International Marina of the year, Marina team of the year, and the Coastal Marina of The Year – under 250 berths, won for the third time, by boatfolk’s Royal Quays Marina.
Although the Sustainable Marina award is new, it is not the first time TYHA have acknowledged Haslar Marina’s dedication to sustainability. In 2021, when the TYHA Clean Marina Programme was launched, Haslar Marina, alongside boatfolk’s Portland and Portishead marinas, became one of the first three marinas to secure the Clean Marina accreditation in the UK.
This award not only acknowledges the great work of the team at Haslar Marina to continuously challenge and improve practices, it also marks a positive step for the industry as a whole by highlighting the important part marinas play in protecting our planet for future generations.
