A change is on the horizon

It is with mixed feelings that we announce the retirement of Simon Davis, our beloved Portishead Marina Manager, at the end of September. After seven wonderful years with us, Simon will be stepping away from his role, handing over the reigns of the marina to the very capable Danielle Jones, who has been promoted to Marina Manager.

Simon has been an integral part of our marina family, and his dedication, professionalism, and warmth have made a lasting impression on all of us.   Simon began his journey with Portishead Marina in early 2017, initially joining as a part-time Berthing Master after winding down a successful career in recruitment. Following the merger and formation of boatfolk, Simon’s commitment and leadership saw him take on the role of Assistant Manager, and in June 2022, he was appointed Marina Manager. His calm, thoughtful, and considerate approach won the respect and admiration of both customers and colleagues alike.

Through a period of significant change, Simon’s steady hand has guided us all – a true embodiment of the spirit of our community.   As Simon moves on to this next chapter, he looks forward to spending more time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, and indulging in his favourite pastimes like cycling and walking. While we will deeply miss Simon’s presence, we are immensely grateful for all he has done for Portishead Marina.

We invite you to join us in making his final days here memorable, and to share your own expressions of appreciation for his years of dedication and service.   Our new Marina Manager from the 1st October will be Danielle Jones. Many of you will know that Danielle joined Portishead Marina in 2014 having relocated from Canada to be with her partner, and now husband, Chris. In 2022 she became the Assistant Manager, a role she has excelled at, and which has enabled her to develop a breadth of knowledge and the site specific skills to enable her to now take on the full manager role at the marina.  We hope that you will join us in celebrating these changes at Portishead and support Danielle and her fantastic team as we prepare the marina for the winter months
