Top Shots!

The winners of Portland Marina's inaugural annual photo competition

Firstly, thank to you everyone who entered, the winning photos were hotly debated amongst the marina team and making a decision was incredibly difficult. The team judged the photos on their relevance to the category theme as well as composition, clarity and creativity.

Now, without further ado... drum roll please... the top shots!

Prize: racing scrub from boatcare

Adventures Afloat

From local trips with the backdrop of the stunning Jurassic Coast to exploring further afield around the UK and beyond on voyages that are recounted around the pub table in years to come. Wherever you bob about, be it drifting in Weymouth Bay with a rod in hand or cruising between the myriad bays and coves of the West Country, this category is all about the adventures that happen at sea, it doesn't matter if they're big or small, relaxed or adrenaline filled!

And the winner is... Stephen Goodhew with his shot of boat to helo transfer operations in Portland Harbour.

Runner up is Paul Janes with his photo of a dolphin leaping next to their boat.

Prize: a massage at The Beauty Deck

Your Crew

We know that time spent on your boat with friends and family, including the four-legged  ones, is what makes boating such a rewarding and enjoyable pastime for many of you (we also know there's some who prefer the solace of being alone afloat too). Whether your crew are active participants in boat life or prefer to sit back and let you do all the work, this category is all about the people and pets you wouldn't leave your berth without.

And the winner is... Mandy Harraway with her photo of skipper and crew dressed to the nines ready for Portland Week 2022.

Runner up is Karen Smith with her pic of their crew, Popeye, chilling on the deck.

Prize: a meal for two at Salt or The Kitchen

Portland Marina

Spending time at the marina means different things to different people. For some it's a place to escape to, for others a place from where they head off into the big blue yonder. People live, work and play here. Some of our favourite stories we've heard from you about your time afloat have happened right here on our pontoons, from introducing the grandkids to crabbing to having a go at paddle boarding in the shelter of the marina, or simply gathering together with friends and family onboard. And then, of course, there's the sunsets...

The most hotly contested category!

And the winner is... Tim Healy with his shot of a wintry marina at dusk.

Runner up is Sheena Dudbrige with her photo entitled 'Mermaids seen back at Portland Marina!'

Prize: two night's stay at the marina

Visiting Portland Marina

We opened the competition out to our visiting boats too, with the theme 'Portland Marina' and had some fanastic shots back, but there can only be one winner and they are... Sharvili Tagirov who captured a fleet of boats in the sunshine on Portland Harbour.

Runner up is Craig Coupe of the Boleh Trust with his photo of student crew coming back into the marina after a fun day afloat.

Well done to all our winning photographers! We'll be in touch by email to let you know how to claim your prize. Below are the photos by the runners up.
